Meet Us:

President (2017-2018)
Diane Hanley, MS, RN-BC, EJD

Diane has many years of nursing leadership experience in both the academic and community hospital setting where she focused predominately on the development of professional nursing practice using the Magnet Recognition program as a guide. Diane achieved certification in the Fundamentals of Magnet, a program which drives excellence in nursing practice. She is committed to optimal outcomes for patients, families, nurses and the community. Diane serves as the delegate for the Board of Medicine from the Board of Registration in Nursing where she served as the Chair and member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for 5 years. Diane has developed expertise in the rules and regulations related to healthcare from numerous agencies. She is active in the Nurse of the Future Nursing Core Competencies task force. She received her baccalaureate degree from St. Anselm College in Manchester NH, followed by an MSN from Salem State University in Salem MA. She attended Concord Law School, an online program, and attained an executive juris doctorate with a major in healthcare

 


President Elect (2017-2018)
Donna Glynn, PhD, RN, ANP-BC 
Donna is an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Scientist at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and Professor of Nursing at Simmons College.  Her research and publications are focused on reflective practice, transition to practice and clinical nursing education.  She is currently the President of the Theta at Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau.  She serves on the Nurse of the Future Core Competency initiatives and is an accreditor of Nurse Residency programs for CCNE


Past President (2017-2018)
Cathleen Colleran, DNP, RN

Cathleen has 25 years of nursing experience and has learned the importance of integrity, flexibility and adaptability. In her roles as a nurse leader and academic, she has had many opportunities to sharpen and develop key executive leadership skills. Most recently, she was selected as a fellow of the Leadership for Academic Nursing Program (2014). Cathleen enjoys facilitating discussions with her students and colleagues, often generating alternative solutions to complex situations. Her leadership qualities have facilitated appointments to various chair positions, and service on many committees within my organization. Cathleen considers herself a motivator and change agent, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.  She enjoys mentoring others and discovering and cultivating leadership qualities.


Secretary (2016-2018)
Jim Kernan, RN, MPIA

Jim works as an RN at the Essex County Correctional Facility and as a visiting nurse for Alternative Home Health Care. He has taken leadership of the ANA MA Career Connections Committee. Jim has been a Judge for Nightingale Awards for the Louisiana State Nurses Association 15 Anniversary Gala, written to the Boston Globe on the subjects of patients served in the correctional system: substance addition treatment and compassionate release for the terminally ill, and has been a First-Aid Responder for a 3 day runners’ event in Krakow, Poland.

 


Treasurer (2017-2019)
Mark Worster, RN

Mark graduated from the Lawrence Memorial Regis College School of Nursing in 2014, attending classes nights and weekends while continuing to run several businesses. An entrepreneur who has employed superior problem-solving ability, revenue generating skills, and broad organizational expertise to grow existing business and help launch new ventures, Mark brings a wealth of experience to the Board. In addition Mark hopes to bring his experience as a Yoga and Meditation instructor to the Nursing Community during the 2017 Healthy Nurse initiative.

Merida Brimhall. RN, BSN
(2015-2017)

Merida has spent the 6 short years of her nursing career in community health and public health and has a strong passion for quality improvement and innovation in primary care. On the weekends you may find her hiking in the mountains, rock climbing or camping.


Julie Cronin, DNP, RN, OCN
(2016-2018)

Julie  is delighted to serve on the Board of Directors for the American Nurses Association of Massachusetts. Julie has been a member of the Conference Planning Committee for over a year and has thoroughly enjoyed her experience of assisting in planning conferences that include topics that are current, evidence based and are of interest to Massachusetts nurses.  Julie has been a nurse in oncology for almost nine years, including several years as a Nursing Practice Specialist in gynecology/oncology and radiation oncology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Julie recently earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Northeastern University and is delighted to broaden her knowledge and experience as a member of the ANA MA Board of Directors.

 


Kate Duckworth, BA, RN, MS
(2017-2019)

Kate is currently a Post-Baccalaureate RN Resident at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury. She recently graduated from Curry College's accelerated BSN program with a Nursing Achievement Award and induction into Sigma Theta Tau. As of November 2016, Kate is retired from 20 years of active and reserve service in the Marine Corps, and spent several years in civilian federal service. Her professional interests include a holistic approach to wellness through patient interaction and education, as well as motivating new nurses to network and share ideas.

 


Alycia Dymond, RN, BSN
(2017-2018)

Alycia is currently a staff nurse at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. As a new nurse and member of the ANA Massachusetts board she will continue the call for support and give voice to the necessity of educating nurses on how health insurance affects patients. She plans to learn more about advocacy, lobbying, and working with government organizations to create and support a robust system of healthcare that covers all people, regardless of income or immigration status. 



Jennifer Gil, RN, BSN
(2017-2019)

Jennifer currently serves as a board director and social media specialist for ANA MA. She joined ANA MA two years ago as a recent new grad and is also a member for the health policy committee. She currently works as a registered nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. She graduated from Villanova University in 2013 and was first introduced ANA when she served on the board for the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania. Jennifer is interested in health policy and global health disparities. She hopes to continue her education by obtaining her MBA/MPH in Global Health Management, and eventually obtaining a doctorate of philosophy in nursing with a focus of



Mary Grant, MS, RN

(2017-2019)

Mary's interest lies in a commitment to our profession being an integral part of directing health care in our Commonwealth and in our nation, including best practices, healthy populations and sound public policy. The breadth of her professional experience has helped her to develop a strong sense of context, think strategically and communicate publicly.  Her practice has included multidisciplinary community settings, across systems, e.g. social service, criminal justice, and the Legislature creating budgets with competing statewide interests and writing health care laws. Billing gave Mary a working knowledge of the effect of insurance benefit packages on treatment and cost burdens.  Administrative, clinical and advisory leadership positions further broadened the context of her practice and knowledge of the effect of public policy on practice and health care. Mary's lifetime of civic activity has enriched her skills in assessing and organizing for impact.  Her two elected positions has sharpened her ability to hear positive and negative comments, and hold or compromise in controversy.   Creating and leading public initiatives honed skills in garnering support. Service on many not-for-profit boards has afforded her comparative governance experience and opportunities to write by-laws, regulations and laws.
                      
                   

 

 

 

 

 

Lynne Hancock, MSN, RN, NE-BC
(2016-2018)

Lynne has been a nurse for 27 years, all in pediatrics. She has lived and practiced in 7 states, as well as Washington DC. Lynne loves to travel and read and prefers salty snacks over sweet.


Janet E. Ross, MS, RN, PMHCNS
(2016-2018)

Janet is a psychiatric/mental health clinical specialist working the in the public sector, advocating for recovery-oriented services, especially for those who are disenfranchised and experiencing persistent illnesses.  As a member of the ANA Massachusetts Membership and Technology Committees, she is dedicated to keeping ANA MA an active, involved organization that encourages the engagement of members in many types of professional and fun activities.
