#EndNurseAbuse ANA Professional Issues Panel - Deadline to Apply February 5

#EndNurseAbuse – Deadline to Apply for the ANA Members Only Panel is February 5!
The American Nurses Association (ANA) is seeking applications for the #EndNurseAbuse Professional Issues Panel dedicated to addressing barriers to reporting violence and abuse in healthcare settings to start in March 2018. This panel will convene for approximately 4-6 months and focus on:
  1. Developing policy to address barriers to nurses and other healthcare workers reporting violenceand abuse, and
  2. Strategies to strengthen "zero tolerance" policies.

The goal of the #EndNurseAbuse Panel is to:
  • Identify the barriers to effective reporting of violent and abusive incidents.
  • Investigate workplace "zero tolerance" policies for strengths and weaknesses and seek to understand the effectiveness of such policies.
  • Develop policy recommendations to address barriers to reporting.
  • Identify strategies to strengthen "zero tolerance" policies.
 
The #EndNurseAbuse Panel will consist of a Steering Committee of approximately 15 members that will guide the development of resources and policy via virtual meetings. The Steering Committee will meet intensively, at least once a month via conference call for approximately two hours in addition to email dialogue. The policy development from the Steering Committee will require an additional approximate 10 hours a month. The appointed Chair(s) of the Steering Committee may have an additional 2-4 hours per month time commitments (see chart below).
 
All applicants not selected for the Steering Committee will have the opportunity to participate in the associated Advisory Committee. The time commitment for the Advisory committee is less frequent and will consist of virtual dialogue through an online platform. The Advisory Committee requires approximately one hour per month of online dialogue for the duration of the panel. Advisory Committee members will provide feedback, additional information and advice to ANA and the Steering Committee regarding the direction of the policy development.
