The House Energy and Commerce Committee on June 17 unanimously passed H.R. 728, the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2019. The bipartisan legislation was introduced by Rep. Dave Joyce (R-OH) and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), co-chairs of the Congressional Nursing Caucus.

"Supporting the education of nurses is essential to meet the increased demand for health services," said American Nurses Association President Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN. "As the largest source of federal funding for nursing education, Title VIII is invaluable to prepare nurses to provide care across all practice settings and in rural and medically underserved communities."
