American Nurses Association Alarmed by Volume of Abrupt Changes at CDC

Amount of Leadership Changes Could Pose Threats to Public Health

Interconnection between Public Health, the Economy and National Security should not be ignored

“As nurses, we see the lifesaving impact of public health protections every day. We stand ready to serve but cannot remain silent as transparency and a lack of consistent leadership in these critical agencies have the potential to undermine decades of progress in public health. Ensuring stability and integrity within our public health infrastructure is not optional, it is imperative for the health, well-being and security of our nation.”  ANA President Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, PhD, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN.

A beautiful day on June 1st provided the perfect setting for the members of the ANA Mass Health Policy Committee to brave the wilds of Pepperell, Massachusetts. This is the first time many of us have seen each other outside the box (the ZOOM box that is…) after a very busy year. The program of the day was robust, with members getting the opportunity to know each other better, learn about MARN/ANA Mass history, and to discuss important trends that affect our nursing practice.

The Health Policy Committee is finishing a VERY busy legislative session and is already beginning to plan for the next one. Do you have a passion for policy? Are you looking for an opportunity to become a more active member of ANA Mass and effect your nursing practice a tangible way? New members are always welcome to contact us atinfo@anamass.org for more information.
