 | ANAMASS Awards honor the remarkable, but often unrecognized work of nurses from across the Commonwealth. You probably work with or know nurse colleagues whose commitment to nursing and to patient care is exemplary. Yet in the rush of today's world, there is often little time to acknowledge them and their professional contributions. ANAMASS has established several awards that provide you the opportunity to recognize those nurses who have made a difference at the bedside, in the classroom, and in the practice of nursing. | Living Legends in Massachusetts Nursing | This award is to recognize a nurse who has made significant lifetime contributions to the profession of nursing on a state (MA), national and/or international level. Candidates for this award must be a current or past member of ANAMASS or a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) when it served as the state affiliate for the American Nurses Association (ANA). Candidates are nurses whose long-standing contributions over the course of their careers will serve as an inspiration to other nurses. Candidates have exhibited creativity and innovation in his/her practice and blazed trails for other nurses to follow. | |
| Excellence in Nursing Practice | The ANAMASS Excellence in Nursing Practice Award is for a RN who demonstrates excellence in clinical practice. The nominee for this award may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague. ANAMASS membership is not required for candidates of this award. | |
| Excellence in Nursing Education | The ANAMASS Excellence in Nursing Education Award is for a nurse educator who demonstrates excellence in nursing education. The candidate for this award may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague. ANAMASS membership is not required for candidates of this award. | |
| Excellence in Nursing Research | The ANAMASS Excellence in Nursing Research Award is for an RN who demonstrates excellence in his/her nursing research. The candidate for this award may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague. ANAMASS membership is not required for candidates of this award. | |
| Mary A. Manning Nurse Mentoring | The Mary A. Manning Mentoring Award was established by ANAMASS member and past president Karen Daley to support and encourage mentoring activities. This monetary award in the amount of $500 is given annually to a nurse who exemplifies the ideals of mentoring and has established a record of consistent outreach to nurses in practice or in the pursuit of advanced education. The ideal candidate should have a record of achievement in offering guidance to and fostering development among nursing professionals and may also include individuals who have contributed to, supported, or developed mentoring programs within their organization, institution or practice community. | |
| Community Service | The Community Service Award is for a RN whose community service has a positive impact on the citizens of MA. ANAMASS Membership is not required for candidates of this award. | |
| Friend of Nursing Award | The Friend of Nursing Award is for a person or persons who have demonstrated strong support for the profession of nursing in MA. The candidate for this award may be self-nominated or be nominated by a colleague.ANAMASS membership is not required for candidates of this award. |

Nurse-Led Team Award | ANAMASS Nurse-Led Team Award is to recognize a Massachusetts nurse or interprofessional team, led or co-led by a direct care nurse, which has positively impacted nursing practice, patient outcomes, or the work environment. The nominee for this Award may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague. ANAMASS membership is not required for this award, but the nominator must be an ANA Massachusetts member. | |
Nurse Innovation Award | The ANAMASS Nurse Innovation Award is to recognize a nurse(s) contribution(s) to the advancement of the nursing profession, patient care, or improvement of the work environment through innovation. The innovation must have been initiated by a nurse(s) or is a nurse led/co-led team with nurses involved in the conception, development, implementation, &evaluation. A successful applicant will describe the nurse(s) involved; the identified problem or need; product, program, or practice that is unique, novel, or creative; and how the innovation changed practice, impacted patient outcome, or the work environment. The Nominee for this Award may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague. ANA membership is not required for this award, but the nominator must be an ANA Massachusetts member. | |
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advancement in Nursing Award | The ANAMASS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advancement in Nursing Award recognizes a Massachusetts nurse (s) for contributions to champion &promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in their work environment and within the profession. The nominee for this Award may self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague. ANAMASS membership is not required for this award, but the nominator must be an ANA Massachusetts member. |
Award recipients will be invited to the ANAMASS Awards/FNAMA Scholarship Gala.
