Title: Nurse Leaders and Liability: Common Risks and Prevention Strategies

Overview: Nurse leaders operate at the intersection of patient safety, workforce management, regulatory compliance, and organizational accountability. This webinar will examine the unique liability exposures associated with nursing leadership roles through the lens of published analysis of nursing claims from the most recent 5 years and case examples. Nurse leaders can explore how leadership decisions can influence professional liability risks. The session will include practical risk control strategies designed to help nurse leaders strengthen safety cultures, support their teams, and reduce the likelihood of adverse events, claims, and board complaints.

Objectives: (1) Analyze the actions and issues that prompted allegations of negligence against nurses and nurse leaders. (2) Define who are nurse leaders. Define the average incurred expenses for nurse leaders involved in a malpractice lawsuit. (3) Identify processes that nurse leaders can implement into their practice to reduce their potential liability.
