ACT NOW in Support of the MCNP SAVE Bill

MCNP Hearing Before Joint Committee on Public Health
Scheduled for 9/24/19

September 17, 2019

Dear Colleague,

Despite being a leader in healthcare reform, Massachusetts has one of the most restrictive practice environments for NPs in the country and is the only state in New England without full practice authority. As your state professional Nurse Practitioner association, the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (MCNP) is working hard on your behalf to change that.

As you know, in January 2019 the MCNP filed House and Senate versions of An Act to Support Access, Value and Equity in Health Care (H. 1867/S. 1330),also known as the NP SAVE Bill.

This is our fourth filing of legislation to modernize the statutes for nurse practitioners in Massachusetts and allow us as nursing professionals to practice to the full extent of our education, training and national certification.

H. 1867/S. 1330 is currently before the Joint Committee on Public Health and is scheduled for a public hearing on 9/24/19 when MCNP will present testimony in support of the bill.

We are asking all MCNP members to contact their legislators in advance of the hearing to make sure legislators are familiar with our bill and to request their support.

Please visit the MCNP website to send a pre-formatted email. It only takes a moment, and every email sent makes a difference.

We have also posted a campaign for your Family, Friends and NP Supporterswho may want to support our efforts.

Our patients deserve unrestricted access to high-quality, cost-effective health care, and they need YOUR SUPPORT to make this a reality.

Please ACT NOW and share this email with your NP colleagues, family and friends.

We will send an update after the hearing and will let you know when we again need your help. This hearing is the next of many steps that must be completed in order to pass our bill, and we have much work ahead of us.

Thank you for your engagement and advocacy!

The MCNP Legislative Team
