Across Massachusetts, far more people aspire to enter nursing than traditional programs are able to accept — not always because of a lack of talent or commitment, but because of complex admissions processes, financial barriers and systems that weren't designed with nontraditional students in mind. This webinar shares the journey and emerging lessons of Springfield WORKS' Expanding Access to Career Pathways in Nursing project, a multi-year, multi-partner initiative in Springfield, Massachusetts. Through sustained collaboration between Baystate Health, Holyoke Community College, Springfield Technical Community College, MassHire Hampden County Workforce Board, the Western Mass Black Nurses Association and Caring Health Center, the ECP project has worked to widen the pathway into nursing by examining admissions processes, piloting a work-based LPN Pathway Program, and building a circle of wraparound support that helps participants not just get in — but succeed.
